Human Prosperity is really starting to get into ~Spring Break~ mode, however, we knew we couldn’t chillax without finishing up some good work first!
Firstly, our committee, John and I decided on a March event: “Hoops for Hope”!! This 3 versus 3 co-ed basketball tournament will have some phenomenal guests to keep the crowd busy, as well as opportunities to give back to an awesome charity: March of Dimes! We are so excited to host an event that can be so beneficial to those in our community, and also elsewhere in the state and country! We have some great sponsors partnering with us, as well.
~Volunteer of the Month~
Our very own incredible committee member, Sarah Thomas, was chosen as ELSB’s Volunteer of the Month! She has been a great asset to our team. She’s always ready to expand on ideas, overcome any roadblock, and do what she can to help those in need! She has kick-started “Run for Rosie”, a 5k-esque run that benefits Cystic Fibrosis. "I am a freshman here at UofL. To me, service is a way of helping fellow people and ensuring they have someone they can rely on in a time of need. It’s an important aspect that everyone should incorporate in their lives. It’s a feel-good experience for the person giving service and the person receiving service.”
Congrats, Sarah We are so proud of you!
ALSO: Wanna look kewl spreading some HP gear? Be on the lookout for these ~funky cool~ stickers, coming to ELSB lovers right after Spring Break! We have a limited supply, so be sure to grab yours ASAP!
As for my last bit of information, in the form of a quote:
Here’s what service means to Sarah, in her own words: “You never know what small action you take could make someone’s day. We all deserve to help others, and in turn, be helped. Service is the perfect way I have found to do this! I hope you find volunteerism and awareness impactful, as well."
Have a safe, impactful, and fun Spring Break! See you later this month!
