LEAD was by far the highlight of my freshmen year. It's how I made friends and made connections. If it wasn't for LEAD, I'm not sure I'd be in the same position I am today!
Brandon McClain making a fire
At the beginning of the program, LEAD & TFF went into the middle of nowhere for a retreat, and there I was able to meet most of my friends by killing a wasp and burning stuff... (I promise there's more to the story)! Whether we were singing the Mulan soundtrack, dancing around a campfire, or having deep conversations, there was hardly ever a dull moment.
I was also part of an amazing group that put on a spectacular event called "UofL, Lets Talk!" where we had an open forum discussing the horrible reality of sexual assault on college campuses and society as a whole. A team of 3 freshmen organized speakers, catering, venue, nearly every aspect of the event which is an opportunity everyone in Freshmen LEAD will have! As a reward, we got to go to the IMPACT Conference for an entire weekend filled with fun workshops on how to be better leaders!
UofL Let's Talk
I honestly can't say enough great things about LEAD. It's a fantastic opportunity, and I encourage everyone to go out and apply for it!
